Challenge: To conduct Training Assurance on behalf of Army Headquarters and the Land Warfare Centre, through an audit of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) course documentation and Level 1 / 2 Training Assurance on a new middle management course aimed at senior Captains, the Captains’ Warfare Course.

Solution: An experienced Waves analyst reviewed all DSAT documentation and recommended necessary actions to ensure it met the DSAT Quality System. During two iterations of the 8 week long courses, the analyst sat through every lesson and conducted a thorough internal validation to ensure the delivery met the required standards and to gauge feedback on the content and delivery style from the instructor and students.

Results: Director of Training (Army) and the Land Warfare Centre now have an auditable risk matrix set against the delivery of a prominent career course for officers. Clear recommendations were made on what actions were required to improve the course delivery and to mitigate the risks identified.
