Challenge: Waves was engaged to design and deliver a bespoke day of cognitive and experiential activities for a group of young people undergoing guidance in wealth management. The group consisted of Nigerian students and graduates ranging in age from 17 to 27. Waves’ expertise was called upon to provide day 2 of an integrated programme providing advice, guidance and support to high net worth individuals and families. Our remit spanned personal profiling, Emotional Intelligence, self-awareness, effective leadership and learning through experience.

Solution: We designed a programme of activities and presentations to meet the client’s exacting requirements. At the heart of the programme’s development were the unique needs of the delegates, set in the context of their previous day’s presentations with KPMG, covering Wealth Management and what could realistically be achieved in a short period of time. The day revolved around an understanding of self beginning with a comprehensive review of each delegate’s Everything DiSC Work of Leaders® profile and challenging their assumptions through a tailored experiential activity. The resulting learning was applied to the concepts of Emotional Intelligence, Grit and effective leadership. This was then underpinned by an introduction to the Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ and fully tested through an afternoon of experiential activities based around the herding of sheep.

Results: Delegates gained a valuable insight into their own motivations, values and strengths as well as being exposed to workable strategies for successfully leading other people and teams; most importantly fun was had by all!

‘Thank you for an excellent day yesterday. The feedback amongst the youngsters was really positive and they were all really pleased that they had actually got the sheep in the pen, which for many of them was a ‘first time’ experience! Please send our appreciation to your team who helped make the day a great success. I hope we can arrange other training days with you in the future.’
