Challenge: The Army’s Capability Directorate for Information cognisant of a changing defence environment wished to update and ensure the relevancy of their current Tactical Intelligence course. They wanted to review the role of the Tactical Intelligence Practitioner and put in place the first stages of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) compliant documentation, to ensure the job role was up-to-date.

Solution: A thorough Job Analysis was conducted on the role of the Tactical Intelligence Practitioner through:

  • Conducting a literature review of all relevant defence doctrine.
  • Conducting multiple focus groups with job holders and line managers.
  • Conducting a target audience analysis to ascertain, start states and numbers in light of the revised Army 2020 structures.

Results: The outputs for this project were:

  • Operational Performance Statement and Job Specs swiftly endorsed.
  • Deliverables successfully transferred to the customer’s IT data base, for future access and amendment.
  • Auditable documentation which will ensure next stages of design and development of the future Tactical Intelligence course is based on a robust requirement and meets the Army’s rigorous compliance processes.
