Challenge: The current National Guard Signal School (NGSS) at Khashm al-An is the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) Signal Corps (SC) centre of excellence for the delivery of Communication and Information Systems. It is currently undergoing a 4 phase programme which will result in a Technical Institute (TI). Waves, in partnership with SCS, supported the UK MOD Project Team working for the SANG, through the conduct of three TNAs for 2 new capabilities and enhancement to language training:

  • Deployable Tropospheric Communications (DTROPO)
  • Deployable Staff Working Environment (SWE)
  • English Language Training (ELT)

Solution: A full Training Needs Analysis was conducted on each capability, with work conducted between the UK and The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Technical and Tactical Tasks were extracted from Equipment Support Publications, an Operational Analysis via tactical demonstrations of the equipment in lieu of formal doctrine. For the ELT TNA, visits across KSA were required to capture regional specific requirements.

Results: The SANG now have three endorsed training solutions for their new capabilities, which will support training design and delivery and enhance their operational effectiveness
